There's a few details that are surprisingly complicated to answer! And they're asked very very often, too. So I'll address them here.

Can my Character see her true form?
It's hard exactly to say WHAT it takes for a character to see that Amaterasu is a god. It's not simply believing in their existence... it's believing in their power and their benevolence. For example, even if a character has witnessed a god, if they didn't see it working miracles and doing good and doing what gods do, then they probably won't see Ammy for what she is. However, if they believe wholeheartedly in the gods and their power, and have enough faith in the gods (or the Light/Power of Nature/Ultimate Goodness in other canons), then they will see her no problem. It takes a belief in true benevolence and pure Light to witness a god. Thinking that it's plausible for a god to be wandering around doesn't quite do it; you have to believe with all your heart that the gods are watching over you. For canons like Kingdom Hearts and any other canon with a "Light", it'll be no problem to see her because characters KNOW that such a thing exists, and their hearts yearn for it. But ultimately, whether or not your character sees Amaterasu is up to you.

How does my character learn her name?
Pretty much in any way except for her saying it. She'll doodle it out on the ground, but unless you can read kanji, you may never learn it. Once she gets castmates, her name might spread around, but until then, you can pretty much call her whatever. She was pretty cool with "Snowy" or "Chalky" or "Full Throttle Ammy".

My character is an animal, too! How do I handle them seeing a wolf?
I wouldn't worry! Even rabbits and birds don't really seem to be afraid of Ammy until she starts playing rough. I'm assuming it's because animals can instinctively tell that she is a benevolent god, not a regular wolf. She'll even feed your character! Gotta earn that praise from nature!

What if Ammy draws a circle around my character? What does that mean?
There's no actual name to this brush technique, and you can do it before you obtain the bloom tech... I'm personally assuming that it gives the intended person a feeling of being blessed by the gods, which makes them generous and friendly. One comic illustrates this rather well, I think! It's not often that this'll get whipped out, but it could happen. It's a power shown to transform characters that have two forms: the Oina, when circled, switch between their wolf and human forms.

What about fights?
Ammy gets into a lot of fights! Most of the time, they're very well-intentioned. Spars with friends are fun, after all! For more detail on how a fight goes, look at the Combat Post. Use that to determine how involved you want to get into a fight with her!
