Character: Amaterasu
Series: Ōkami
Canon Point: Post-game
CRAU?: Nope
History: Wiki Link!
Personality: Amaterasu is quite good at snooping about and exploring, able to wander around through mazes and puzzles and solve them on her own. Her variety of powers (and charming appearance) help her get into just about anywhere she really wants to investigate. She’s very skilled at finding hidden items, and has a lot of investigative skill in general. Despite her clever problem-solving skills and ability to weasel her way into anything, Amaterasu is actually fairly naïve and doesn’t think to be suspicious or wary of traps. She also tends to stare absentmindedly at people if her interest is lost. She relies on Issun to make up for her lack of smarts, and it’s not at all uncommon for him to give her a piece of his mind whenever she goes off to do something particularly goofy or nonsensical.
Amaterasu also doesn’t take the time to stop and think. She is certainly capable of understanding what everyone is saying, despite not being able to speak a word herself, but that doesn’t translate to being able to make the best decisions. “Leap before you look” is the motto given to her by Issun, so the goddess acts on gut instinct and impulse before ever giving thought to consequences. Fortunately for her, it only rarely backfires; Amaterasu has a good gut feeling and her impulses almost entirely empirically lead her towards doing the right moral thing; she usually follows the impulse to help others and focus on charitable tasks instead of dilly-dallying as usual. Amaterasu isn’t especially contemplative, because she is less like a human and more like a force for good. She is incredibly sympathetic towards the plight of humans, working thoroughly and often to protect and promote them, but she still isn’t human and she doesn’t think the way they do. And what Amaterasu knows, compared to other humans (and even the player) is mysterious, further cloaking the exact way in which she thinks. One can only guess based on her actions.
Amaterasu is an extremely friendly wolf, and loves to be around people and spirits alike. She is remarkably helpful, and enjoys making people happy, going to great lengths to accomplish just that. Though she gets excitable, she usually doesn’t jump on people or lick them to death... though she may bite their sleeves and drag them around, or toss them onto her back for a ride. She loves to play and get into mischief, breaking things with her Celestial Brush for fun or digging up turnip patches to run around and avoid getting thwacked by angry gardeners. She’ll tackle and harass people, but it is never in ill will and is only in purely impish fun. She has very humanly expressive body language, reacting to things with clear whines and droopy ears, using her face more than her tail and posture. She even has a strangely human-like sense of humor, a lot of the time. She likes to cover people in ink, or put a goofy mask on her face. She likes to snatch things from people and make them chase her around, and she likes to befuddle them with the Celestial Brush. She takes such delight in playing with people, whether it’s harassing them or they’re along for the ride. Amaterasu is incredibly happy-go-lucky, with various amounts of a mischievous streak at any given time.
In the end, Amaterasu’s rare moments of doubt or worry are always significantly outshone by her endless dedication and resolve. As the mother of all life and the origin of all creation, Amaterasu’s most core desire is to breathe life into Nippon and to lift the curse of evil that rests heavily upon it. She is a force of creation and a god of life, and she will use the powers she holds to overpower evil and repair all of the damage that it does. Amaterasu’s perception of “good” and “evil” are a bit skewed when compared to modern human morality. Good and Evil are two incredibly blatant, tangible things: evil is darkness, pollution, and corruption that sits heavily on the earth. It turns people into stone, or it possesses them. Amaterasu’s powers work clearly much better on evil than on good, natural things. And so when she encounters someone like the Master of Thieves Hayou, or hears of the misdeeds of Oki (who stole a sacred sword for selfish reasons) or Susano (who unleashed evil and tried to run away from responsibility for it)... she is very quick to forgive. Though she may not fully recognize that there are inherent problems in trusting anyone that isn’t a demon, this doesn’t mean that she is quick to slaughter every demon in her path. There are quite a few times where she will let an imp or simple demon slide, or regard them as an honorable foe. After all, there is good to be found in all places, even in the twisted culture of evil beings.
Skills/Abilities: As a sun goddess, Amaterasu does have a litany of powerful abilities. I will include the original powers as well as the suggested nerfs!
Network Sample: Please provide a first person sample here. We are looking for the character's voice. How they talk, how they respond to things verbally. There can be a portion of non-verbal, but we are specifically looking for the character's voice. Consider this your character's network post if you wanted to use it!
Third Person Sample: Please provide us with a third person sample. Here, we are looking for character's thoughts, how they move, how they act. Introspection is the name of the game in this sample. Make us laugh, make us cry, whatever! As long as we get a feel for how this character thinks.

Skills/Abilities: As a sun goddess, Amaterasu does have a litany of powerful abilities. I will include the original powers as well as the suggested nerfs!
•"Godhood": A thin barrier that absorbs damage from an enemy's attack. An attack will destroy each barrier, and she can only ever have 3, but with under the right circumstances Amaterasu can be made vulnerable to damage. Suggested Nerf: Amaterasu can only maintain one level of the barrier and curse-like spells and hexes can send her into her "vulnerable" state.
•"Astral Pouch": An "item" that functions as Amaterasu's stomach, filling up any time she eats food, with the purpose of reviving her if she falls in battle. If she has a full Astral Pouch, then she'll revive with half her health and continue fighting. See, she's not just being a pig, her very life could depend on it! No, really...!! Suggested Nerf: Canonically her pouch can be filled up to four times (with upgrades), but will only have "one" pouch and thus one free revival.
•"Ink Pot": The thing that fuels Amaterasu's Celestial Brush, her store of ink. Each Brush Technique can take between 1-3 pots to complete depending on the strength of the technique, and at maximum, she can have 12 pots. Suggested Nerf: Ink pots do not refill in a timely manner, taking several minutes of complete rest instead of idly refilling in the middle of activity. Items that would refill it are few and far between (though she maysteal buy ink stones from shops!)
•Her "Divine Instruments" are based on the imperial regalia of Japan, and are her weapons. However, she only arrives with three weapons - one of each type.
•"Solar Flare": Her Divine Instrument, a Reflector. It bears the symbol of the sun (of her) and represents her completed power, wisps of divine flame unfurling from the glimmering white mirror. It allows her to bludgeon opponents or draw flame from it at her leisure.
•"Tundra Beads": Her Divine Instrument, a Rosary. It encircles her neck with an icy power, allowing her to use its chill to freeze whatever she likes or use it as a powerful whip.
•"Thunder Edge": Her Divine Instrument, a Glaive. It is crackling with electricity around its sharp edges, allowing her to shock anything she desires if she is not simply swinging the blade.
•"Celestial Brush Techniques": Amaterasu's primary set of powers. As a god, she can pull open a "canvas" to manipulate the world around her. As she is arriving from post-game, she has access to all of her techniques, but I will be providing the suggested nerfs!
•"Sunrise": By drawing a circle in the sky, Amaterasu can bring the sun out or strengthen its light. Suggested nerf: Unable to alter the flow of time, Amaterasu can only increase the strength of the sunlight or create a brief, local moment of sunlight during a cloudy day.
•"Rejuvenation": By "filling in" the missing or broken part of any object (such as a bridge, a mill, a laundry pole) Amaterasu can restore something to its proper state. I don't think a nerf is necessary.
•"Power Slash": A single strike of ink through an object can slice it right in two! It can also merely knock someone over harmlessly. Amaterasu appears to be able to control the force perfectly fine. I don't think a nerf is necessary.
•"Bloom": By drawing a circle around a tree or trailing ink along the grass, Amaterasu can cause flowers and plants to bloom big and healthy. I don't think a nerf is necessary.
•"Water Lily": Amaterasu is able to draw giant lily pads on the surface of any water, and the lily pads are big and strong enough to carry her weight. I don't think a nerf is necessary.
•"Vine": By drawing a connecting line between a "Konohana" blossom (a bizarre flying flower) and Amaterasu, a vine will connect them and pull Amaterasu to the blossom. Suggested Change: Rather than relying on konohana blossoms (since they do not exist in setting), vines may possibly be grown from trees to pull Amaterasu up into the branches.
•"Cherry Bomb": A powerful explosive wrapped in a delightfully colorful paper. Cherry bombs easily blast holes into walls and destroy evil, but seem to do no harm to people besides give them a mild fright. Suggested Nerf: Amaterasu can only produce one at a time.
•"Waterspout":
